About Us.

We are a creative agency. Print or digital, we deliver designs you can be proud to show off.

Sometimes we are asked to start with a blank canvas, other times we are working with companies who have a set identity and an established name in the market. Either way we begin with a conversation.

Branding is more than just a logo and a good colour scheme; a whole bunch of talented individuals mix up a cauldron of ideas to bring identity and personality to your company.

Then the fun starts, we photograph, draw, illustrate, debate, start again, tweak and keep going until we get it right. We add carefully scrutinised text and then we put the work into action. Don’t you just want to break out the finger paints!

Once we're feeling inspired, we put all this hard work into production. The digital world throws us lots of exciting projects from websites and micro-sites to banners and on-line ad campaigns. But we love having something tactile that we can have a good thumb through and for this reason our print division proudly stands shoulder to shoulder with its digital sibling.

This means that through identity, the web, advertising, events, brochures, publishing and shouting your name from the rooftops, we get the message across.

Some recent work...

Portfolio.
Through identity, the web, advertising, events, brochures, publishing and shouting your name from the rooftops, we get your message across.
BNP Paribas.

BNP Paribas is a European leader in global banking & financial services and one of the strongest banks in the world (according to S&P AA rating).
Splash was called upon to design and print cutting edge property brochures to reflect the quality of properties in their portfolio.

UK Sports Club.

London’s most iconic sport and social club rebranded through Splash following the merger of City League, Twilight Cricket and Touch Rugby Union.
The brand was developed into a new eCommerce site, with dynamic news articles, complete billing systems, and a fully interactive fixtures and results section.

Imperial College.

Consistently rated amongst the world's best universities, Imperial College London is a science-based institution with a reputation for excellence in teaching and research.
Splash support a variety of divisions of Imperial through conceptual design, digital production, and publishing.

Stickyboard.

On this project we started with a blank page with the word "Stickyboard" on it and that was it. The site, centred around the community, had to engage, reflect the brand, and work within an intuitive UX structure. After stacks of thought provoking meetings, the brand was established. This was then rolled out into an eCommerce site, packed with user databases, billing systems and a client side CMS.

HSBC.

The first piece of work came to us needing an immediate turn around and 100% accuracy. A globally renowned brand, the finance pack had to scream HSBC, whilst offering new ways of displaying clean and corporate information. The team pulled together to design, review and double check simultaneously. Only two weeks after our first project was signed off, assignment number two for HSBC was called in.

Aviation Security International.

Each month we turn a jumble of emails into a 64 page publication which finds itself all over the world into the hands of the aviation industry gurus. It’s packed full of cracking articles and it’s our job to make sure that the design does them justice. Working with ASI for over a year now, we have taken the magazine through quite a journey and it now receives glowing feedback on just how pretty it is.

London Camping 2012.

London Camping 2012 is the go-to site for those wanting to camp during their visit to London 2012 Olympics.
Splash developed the distinctive logo, and brand guidelines, which was rolled out across their marketing material.

Wriglesworth.

The brief was to modernise their website to reflect their mixture of energy, experience and excellence. The design uses photos from current events juxtaposed with striking colours to create the dynamism they were after. Since the site re-design they have asked us to give their pitches the same Splash makeover.

Wicked Campers.

Known by travellers across the world, Wicked Campers offers camper vans which are fun, affordable, spacious and comfortable.
The brand combines edgy, graffiti vans, whilst supplying a reliable service. Splash created bright and colourful stickers for the back of the vans, which reflected this balance.
Following the success of this project, Splash was asked to redesign the company’s brochures.

Tesco.

Asked to support on a communications piece around their employment figures for 2010, Splash was drafted in to put their creativity into play.

GiveaCar.

GiveaCar is a fast growing social enterprise that raises money for charity, but accepting donations in the form of old cars.
Splash offers a discount to charities to help them promote their brands without using up valuable funds from their patrons. Working to this, Splash helped develop key iconography to tell the story of Giveacar and offer an intuitive “How to” guide.

The Church.

A 360° project redesigning graphics and redefining the visual merchandising at point of sale. You can't describe the Church and so we dived in head first for what turned out to be an eye opening experience. Drinking cans of Australia’s finest and rubbing shoulders with The Smurfs, Kiss, and Little miss bo-peep, we “surveyed” all that lay before us. The embarrassing dancing was purely to understand the customer.

Hampshire Gun Room.

The brief was to create an eCommerce site for a start-up company on a budget, which had an instantly credible look and feel. Splash was involved from the initial branding, to the launch of the eCommerce site, and through to the marketing. The site has been designed to be accessible to a wide audience, whilst maintaining the natural heritage of the sport.

Aviation Maintenance.

Following the success of ASI, the same publisher asked us to take over AVM. This international magazine, based predominantly in the US, with key figures in mainland Europe, gets centralised through Splash in London. We speak to every part of the magazine and work as their design arm to ensure that each issue is better than the last. We were delighted to receive our favourite testimonial to date, "Sweet Jesus Splash...You're the Pablo Picasso of magazine covers"

Catherine Clancy.

Artist's sites present huge challenges as the framing, in this case the website, can have an effect on the artists work. Usually therefore the brief is "just keep it white". Whilst the intent is right, white on white with white writing just doesn’t quite give off the right feel. We rolled with the idea and came up with a clean design which allowed the artwork to take centre stage. Flash media ensured smooth transitions between all the pages and provided a relaxed viewing experience.

Sonia Fraser.

After we had our initial concepts meeting with Sonia we knew this was going to be a fun project. Her wealth of knowledge in the theatre industry was coupled with her openness to current trends and contemporary design; a winning combination to inform the brief.

www.soniafraser.com

Counter Terrorism Gazette (CTG).

A brand new magazine; initially a pull-out, Splash has helped expand the magazine into its own pilot publication.

Look out for more from CTG in 2011.

Alderbrook School.

They say never work with children or animals, but we’ve never had a much fun as when we were asked to design the crest for a primary school in London. The school needed a bright emblem that appealed to kids and parents alike, whilst capturing their youthful excitement.

Katie Leamon.

We created a website for a surface designer to compliment her terrifically bespoke style. We used a wallpaper to help lift her work, whilst maintaining the style. The site, I’m sure you’ll agree, is easy to use and the text boxes mirror her portfolio page to give the site uniformity.

Capita.

Being a large multi-national, Capita has strict brand guidelines, but they came to us to re-fresh their graphs for their internal communications whilst maintaining a quality finish.

Theatre6.

A young and impressive theatre company, whose recent production of David Mamet’s play, Mr Happiness & The Water Engine, received Time Outs critic’s choice, for their piece in the Old Vic Tunnels.
Splash designed all of the branding and the marketing material, including posters, flyers and the show programme.

Meet the team...

Our People.
A whole bunch of talented individuals mix up a cauldron of crazy ideas to bring identity and personality to your company.
Henry
Creative Director
Henry

The Professional
Having started his career in architecture, Henry went on to become a visualiser/graphic designer for an internationally renowned firm in London. He was then recruited as head of graphic design for an architectural company before he set up Splash Graphic Design in 2008. Henry’s role as creative director is to oversee all design work to ensure that the level of quality and innovation is always maintained through all Splash projects while constantly pushing the boundaries of contemporary design.

The Person
In order to pick himself up after playing Ollie at tennis, he can be found on the basketball court, which in fairness he is pretty good at. A caring and creative person, Henry first realised his design talent by creating unique birthday cards for friends and family.

Oliver
Director
Oliver

The Professional
Oliver's early career was spent as a head-hunter in the City of London. He earned swift recognition and was soon asked to lead the finance team in the head office of a FTSE 250. Winning clients such as Goldman Sachs and JP Morgan and hosting industry events, he worked with a variety of companies helping them to grow their client base. Oliver joined forces with Henry to help run the operational side of the business and focus on the company’s commitment to client satisfaction.

The Person
Oliver has an unequivocally positive outlook on life, a burning desire to explore, and a love for all things edible. He enjoys diversity (not the dance group, although he quite likes them as well). His greatest pleasure can be found in schooling Henry on how to play tennis. Oliver is renowned for losing umbrellas, having the knees of an 80yr old and for unsuccessfully trying to grow a beard.

Martin
Top Techy
Martin

The Professional
In short he has used all the major web languages and technologies to develop sites from scratch. As far as writing raw code is concerned, Martin can be considered a purebred. Whilst capable of building complex databases and bespoke content management systems, he is happy to use "off the shelf" open source software packages where possible. This can be integrated seamlessly into the rest of the site, which can be a great cost saver.

The Person
Addicted to the south coast of England, Martin is happiest when surrounded by fresh air and the sea. As a man who sees the world as the Matrix, if the world were to recover from the brink of extinction, Martin would be the guy you would want leading the digital revolution.

Nic
‘Click’
Nic

The Professional
Nic is like no photographer you’ll have ever met – he loves to learn more about the people he photographs, what they portray, where you are actually aiming these photos to be seen and what you want the photograph to say. Nic doesn't put pressure on the subject to 'perform'; as soon as someone feels they have to project something into the lens, that's when it all goes wrong. Nic understands both the camera and the subject, and the result is some seriously impressive shots.

The Person
I have rarely seen anyone dance with such creativity and vigor. Ed - A guy Nic once met in Bath Nic will keep you amused for hours with all his funny voices and expressions. Always first to help out friends and someone you can always rely on. Plus very handsome! Maybe I am bias! Vicky - Wife He has a wild love of woodland creatures and a burning desire for deep sea adventure. Dre - Best Friend and Long term adventurer

Lucy
Office Superhero
Lucy

The Professional
With a particularly broad role, Lucy has never shied away from a challenge and we have decided that we would like to clone her.

The Person
Totally organised at work, and scatty in life, Lucy is a joy to have around. Originally from San Francisco she brings some West coast charm to the office. Totally obsessed with baking things with double chocolate, we are regularly force fed brownies and other such delicious treats.

Lively Laura
Middleweight Designer
Lively Laura

The Professional
After a solid foundation course at Chelsea school of Art, Laura excelled in Bristol whilst studying graphic design. Having become an 'inDesign' pro, she spent the last two years working in-house at Bernados. She joins us with a splurge of creative talent just bursting to get out.

The Person
Likes: Children's books, Africa and colourful leggings. Dislikes: People chewing gum, biros that don't work and waking up when it's still dark.

Chris
Online Security
Chris

The Professional
In a rapidly changing electronic environment, individuals and organisations face evolving threats, both from new technology that threatens to make their systems obsolete and from ever more fierce computer viruses. Chris provides solutions which facilitate your requirements without compromise.

The Person
We can't work out why, but Chris seems to have more friends than there are days in the year. Maybe it’s down to his ability to see the funny side of things and always putting others first.

Eleanor
The Illustrator
Eleanor

The Professional
Eleanor graduated with a BA (Hons) in illustration from UCA, and following a Foundation Course at Wimbledon School of Art, she's living back in London where she belongs. With a wealth of exhibitions under her belt, fresh perspective and working predominantly in pen, ink and watercolour, she brings a unique dimension to Splash.

The Person
Likes: books; drinking lots of water; gardens; bread (baking and eating); West-African music; Twiglets; Art History; trains; the Thames; wind turbines; Greek mythology. Dislikes: the beach; motorways; bad grammar and spelling; bad manners; travelling for a long time; misogyny; cooking; snow; Pampas grass

Katie
Surface Designer
Katie

The Professional
As a surface designer and illustrator, Katie creates work that has an air of ethereal romance and mystery, with a playful and organic nature. With a first class degree in textile design, and over 2 years work as a fashion designer she is now embracing the creative world of graphic design.

The Person
As wonderfully humble as Katie is, she refused to talk herself up, so instead she wrote us a poem. Take a look at her work; we think it’s pretty special. "Marks made & changed, arranged & then flipped to form the atom pattern Purpose & point planted then managed with solicitous detail Summer arrives with its subtle tones to cast an eye on creations soon to be My journey just beginning as la plante araingnee."

Tom Tom
Art worker
Tom Tom

The Professional
A dedicated senior artworker who enjoys managing workflow, whilst maintaining a hands-on role. Tom's key strengths are efficiency & attention to detail, meaning he casts his Eagle Eye over almost all our projects.

The Person
Tom in the office: Tom sits at his desk as a proud but humble man. His sense of inner calm spreads thought the studio, offering some respite to an otherwise high-energy desk. Tom at home: A fierce marathon runner who enjoys battling with fierce elements. Politically aware and philosophically astute, he is the first person to be invited to a dinner party.

David
Creative Copy
David

The Professional
An experienced copy writer who tackles projects across web and print, meaning whether we ask him to comment on a blog, re-write an entire website or produce cutting copy for an advert, he always manages to capture the right words. A winner of the writers short essay competition, with a maximum word limit of three words, with: "God lay dying". Second prize was "Begging. Middle. End"

The Person
This man holds the golden albatross (a prize we invented) for the most beautiful rhetoric ever whispered by man. It is fair to say that words flow from this man’s tongue like ... like ... ... wait, I need David ...

Ian
HTML Coder Extraordinaire
Ian

The Professional
After getting 'hooked' on websites as a result of a school project, Ian went on to study Web and Multimedia at University. Since graduating he has worked for and with companies of all shapes and sizes and especially enjoys working with start-ups.

The Person
Not your typical coder, Ian is full of life and loves throwing parties in his shiny new flat. He never turns down the opportunity to try something new and loves a challenge!

Amina
Explosive Designer
Amina

Our latest recruit, so we are still sussing her out, but she has so far been what you would call 'an instant hit'.
